COURSE TITLE: PANEL BEATING
LEVEL: NATIONAL CERTIFICATE LEVEL II
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
PANEL BEATING repair damage to metal, plastic and fiber glass bodywork on vehicles. They also make and form vehicle panels using machines or hand tools. The trainees learn knowledge and skills in removing damaged panels and components, repair damaged body panels with specialist tools and equipment, and learn to use mechanical and hydraulic equipment to restore vehicles to required specification and clearances. They also learn to fit the and refit repaired panels on the framework of the vehicle, realign chassis and body frames using chassis aligners and measuring systems, remove and replace accident-related mechanical items including auto-electric components, help vehicle body builders to build custom-designed, assist with spray painting vehicles, etc..
The trainees are also taught theoretical knowledge in drawing, properties of metal, basic estimate and costing to calculation and science. The training is conducted both in-institute and in industry to gain theoretical and practical experiences.
Panel beaters technicians have ample job opportunity in vehicle repair workshops and they are highly remunerated with their skills. The panel beater technicians are not easily available in the market, hence the graduates are readily employed in any vehicle repair shop.
TRAINING IN INSTITUTE: 752 hours.
OJT DURATION: 276 hours.
NOMINAL DURATION: 1028 hours.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT: High school Graduate.
Physically fit & mentally healthy.
